Scope

Client/Stakeholder: *Vera Langley; VL Games

Bio: VL Games is a game developer that creates content cross-platform.

Project Scope: VL Games would like UX professional to create an app to further reach the gaming community as well as create a space to promote their games with the potential to increase their revenue. VL Games is solely a game developer and this app will be a stand-alone product.

Goal

The Relier app is a place for gamers to connect to other gamers via live streams, matchmaking, and community boards.

Relier will also be a source of revenue for VL Games. It will be free to use, but gamers will have the option to pay for premium content.

Research & Process

I honed Relier's functionality by studying and using the competition. Both companies offer many great features but also lack in multiples ways.

The process used to develop and design this application was based on the idea of taking all of the gamers preferred, usable features and combined them into one cohesive application. Once those features were made clear i developed the basic screen navigation that you see in my sitemap below.

The first iteration of the screen flow was a mix between learning the software, Adobe XD and Overflow, and tediously assigning a function to each button based on my sitemap and intuitively designing the users experience in a way that feels transparent.

Final Thoughts and Lessons Learned

As a UX professional it is of utmost importance to follow the terms discussed and documented between the UX team and the stakeholder. I used the design brief as a guide for what this application was supposed to deliver and created my sitemap based on that information. Since there are other applications that allow for this type of interaction I chose the best features from the existing applications and placed them into one.
